Canada has fewer sauna hats genuinely available than a search suggests. As of October 28, 2026, Halsa's hats all show as sold out, Rí is taking pre-orders for late November, and the in-stock options are a Canadian-woven wool hat at $78, an imported European felt hat at around $48, and ours at C$59.99. I sell one of these hats, so I list our weaknesses alongside everyone else's.
What actually matters when comparing sauna hats?
Four things: fibre, thickness, construction and whether you can actually buy it. Fibre decides odour and heat behaviour (polyester retained the most odour of the fabrics in a 2007 Textile Research Journal study). Thickness is claimed everywhere and measured almost nowhere. Construction decides durability. Availability decides whether the rest is academic.
Which sauna hats can you buy in Canada right now?

Which is the closest comparison to Lanoviss?
The Sauna Shop's seamless Polish-made wool hat, at around $48 (August check, re-verify before buying), is the nearest like-for-like and it is cheaper. It does not state thickness or size, which is the main thing we do differently: we publish 3 mm and 55–61 cm.
Is Rí worth waiting for?
Rí's Sauna Crown is 100% Australian merino at €58.95, and the product page lists it as a pre-order shipping the week of November 22, 2026. Its free-shipping terms are inconsistent: the shipping summary says free worldwide, while the FAQ says free shipping applies across Europe, so confirm Canadian shipping and duties with Rí before ordering. Rí has historically claimed a 5–8 mm thickness as optimal, though the current product page does not restate it. Nothing I know of shows thicker is better.
What about Halsa and STE.MARG.SCOT?
Halsa's catalogue is the cheapest on this list (US$20 to US$35 for hats, merino US$30), but on October 28 every hat card showed sold out, and its homepage mentions only free US shipping, so Canada is unconfirmed. STE.MARG.SCOT is the only hat here that is wool spun, woven and sewn in Canada. At $78 it costs about C$18 more than ours, and it is a woven fabric, not felt, so it behaves differently from the felt hats above.
Where does our hat lose?
- Origin: ours is made in China by a factory I have worked with for years. If "made in Canada" or "made in Europe" matters to you, STE.MARG.SCOT or the Sauna Shop hat is the better fit. See the About page.
- Price: The Sauna Shop's hat is about $11 less, and Halsa is cheaper when it is in stock.
- Thickness: at 3 mm we are thinner than brands claiming 5 to 8 mm. Whether that matters is unmeasured.
- Wool sourcing: we cannot yet document the wool's origin.

What do none of these hats do?

How was this comparison checked?
On October 28, 2026 I opened each seller's own product or collection page and recorded the fibre, size, price, origin and stock status exactly as stated. Where a page said nothing, the table says "not stated" rather than guessing. Rows marked "August check" carry the value from the August 2026 version of this post because I could not re-confirm them. Prices, stock and pre-order dates move weekly, so treat this as a snapshot and check the seller before you pay.
